Sofia has an educational background in literature (BA Hons), creative writing and critical theory (MA Merit) and came to photography as a mode of storytelling through the organisation Miniclick, (of which she was a curatorial member), before enrolling on the Photography MA at Brighton University.

She has worked in the past as an artist researcher and grant application writer for established artists, as well as a book seller for GOST, attending festivals and fairs in Paris and London and representing an eclectic mix of artists and photographers.

She is one of the founding members of Capturing the Chimera, along with artist and photographer Bryony Good, which is an arts education organisation that specialises in teaching creative writing and photography.

Sofia is a member of the Difficult Darkroom Women collective, and took part in the group exhibition Adapt and Adjust, in September 2021 at the Regency Townhouse in Brighton.

Her work shows an interest in collaborative process, compulsive photographic practices, the act of collection and archival interactions. In the making of images, she is concerned with acts of transformation, exploring the camera with the world, rather than exploring the world with a camera.
