Pinner’s Bone WIP (2020-)

The artist and the collection are drawn, by chords of recognition and response, until they are bound together in a transformational encounter that telescopes closer and closer to an indistinct image of the collector as a child, and examines the boundaries between photographic subject and document.

The surfaces of the photographs have become like the skin of the collector. At first sight, distant memories of a childhood experience prickle the collector, faded sensations embodied in the collection.

Each site of intervention enacts the lived reality of the collector onto the bodies of the subjects depicted. In an effort to understand the affect of the collection, the collector has traced the chords of remembrance that have drawn her into their weird embrace so that each presentation from Pinner’s Bone is a moment of clarity in an otherwise murky and strange visitation.
